STAINLESS STEEL-OYSTER STEEL

The most common material that has been using for Rolex is Oystersteel. It is a house superalloy with 904L stainless steel that meets industry standards and has been used in Aeroscape and chemical industries. This alloy is resistant to corrosion and specially developed in extreme conditions.

CERACHROM

Cerachrom is a material that has been using for the Bezel part. The word Cerachrom is from ceramic word with the suffix chrom means color. This material is specially developed by Rolex and patented in 2005, which is used on selected professional models. Even in extreme conditions such as heavy preassure or environmental factors, it keeps reliable and robust. In strong UV radiation, it remains colorfast.

Gold Investment

The most common gold used for investment is 999 (24k) pure gold whether in coin form or gold bullion. Containing 99% pure gold, it has a bright yellow color and is naturally soft and malleable. However, due to this 24k is very seldom used as jewelry.

Other Grades of Gold

On the other hand, more solid and less expensive forms of gold are K9, K14, K18, and the most common K22 gold, which are commonly used for rings, necklaces, bracelets, and other gold jewelry.

These types of gold are less expensive due to the percentage of pure gold used. For example, K22 gold only contains 91.6% pure gold and the other 8.4% is other components such as copper, silver, and other alloys. These materials are added to strengthen the jewelry so it does not break easily.

This also applies to white gold. White gold is still gold however, in order to achieve that shiny white color, other materials are mixed with the gold. The most common white gold grades are K18 and K9, where the purity is only 75% and 37.5%.

Fortunately, this does not mean your K9, K14, K20, or K22 gold has no value. If you want to sell these types of gold, the price you will get is based on the content of pure gold that can be extracted from the item after being melted and refined (purity of gold).

But here’s a heads up for you. Hang on to your pants when you are selling gold lower than K22. As the resell value is only based on purity, you will most likely lose some money, especially white gold items. Click here to read more about white gold resell value.

Chronometer Test

This test is conducted by various organizations which requested by watch manufacture through various measurement. The purpose is to check whether their watch is consistent with the chronometer requirements.

Usually, the watch manufacturer will state the term Chronometer on the dial after passed the examination. This examination also involves movement testing. This is one of the marketing measures so that customers will feel honor for having a good and precise watch even with a high price.

The Superlative Chronometer Certification

Each Rolex will undergo Superlative Chronometer certification as a guarantee for its performance which includes its Precision, Power Reserve, Waterproofness, and Self-winding. The exclusive procedure will be employed using automated high-technology equipment developed by Rolex. The result will be sent to COSC (the Swiss Official Chronometer Testing Institute) for official certification.

All Rolex movements will get an official Swiss chronometer after undergo 15 days and 15 nights of testing which involves seven eliminating criteria in five static positions and three temperatures.

What is Diamond 4C’s?

When you purchase a house, the common saying is ‘location, location, location’. But when you want to purchase a diamond, the saying is ‘4C, 4C, 4C’.

The 4Cs is the universal method for assessing the quality of any diamond, anywhere in the world. Every diamond that comes with a GIA certificate will state the diamond’s 4C’s as well as the individual serial number for the precious stone. But what exactly is 4C’s? Here is the rundown.

1. Color
GIA’s diamond color-grading system measures the degree of colorlessness. The less colour, the higher the grade. The GIA diamond color grades range from D (colorless) to Z (light yellow or brown). 

2. Cut
Cut actually refers to the diamond facets’ ability to transmit light and sparkle so intensely, not the shape (round, oval etc).

3. Clarity
Diamond clarity is the assessment of small imperfections on the surface and within the stone. However, it is important to keep in mind that diamonds are as unique as our fingerprints. Natural imperfections are inevitable.

4. Carat
A diamond’s carat is the diamond’s weight, not its size. Also, bigger doesnt necessarily mean better. In fact, a high carat diamond with a poor cut may look smaller than a diamond with a smaller carat and a very good cut.

Is Diamonds Good for Investment?

These days, more and more people are becoming smart buyers especially when it comes to valuables such as gold and diamonds. Most of us care about how much we may be able to get if we ever need to sell it in the future. Unfortunately, unlike gold, diamonds’ resale value is low.

The reality is, most diamonds will decline in value over time. Apakah Maksud Emas Putih?

Emas putih adalah emas yang telah diproses dengan kaedah pelunturan. Ianya dicampurkan dengan logam nikel bagi menampakkan ia seperti platinum. Walaubagaimana pun, emas putih lebih murah berbanding platinum kerana suhu untuk meleburkannya adalah lebih rendah dari platinum. Lazimnya, terdapat 2 jenis emas putih.

18K (750)

Jika emas putih anda mempunyai tanda 18K atau 750, ketulenan barang anda adalah 75% sahaja. Ini bermakna, hanya 75% emas tulen digunakan dan 25% lagi adalah logam nikel.

9K (375)

Bagi 9K atau 375, ini adalah gred emas yang paling rendah. Ini kerana hanya 37.5% emas tulen digunakan semasa proses peleburan dan selebihnya adalah logam nikel.

Sudah tentu harganya juga lebih rendah berbanding emas biasa (916, 999). Emas putih tidak sesuai untuk dibuat sebagai pelaburan kerana ketulenannya yang rendah.

This became an even more phenomenon when in November 1927, a young English swimmer called Mercedes Gleitze swam across the English channel. Gleitze was wearing a Rolex Oyster. 2. Rolex Has Their Own Foundry

Rolex is a company that does things a lot differently from its competitors. It is the only watch brand in the world to have all of its gold and platinum made on site. They even use a highly guarded formula to produce the 18-ct yellow, white, and Everose gold alloys specific to Rolex.

3. It Takes A Year To Make A Rolex

From shaping the parts of the case to testing a completed watch for precision, the process takes around one year to complete a single piece. Despite the fact that Rolex produces around 1,000,000 watches a year, it still refuses to speed up production in favor of maintaining its quality. Not forgetting that almost everything they use is made in-house.

4. It Comes In 26 Languages

The Day-wheel of the Day-Date models is available in 26 languages. The languages are: 

English, German, Arabic, Chinese, Danish, Spanish, Basque, Catalan, Ethiopian, Finnish, French, Greek, Hebrew, Dutch, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Latin, Moroccan, Norwegian, Farsi, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Swedish and Turkish.

5. Deepest Oceans With Rolex

In 2012 film director, James Cameron descended 10,908 meters into the Mariana Trench (the deepest point of the world’s oceans) as part of his Deep Sea Challenge exploration. Commencing the journey in a specially-made vessel, Cameron was equipped with an experimental Rolex. What is known today as the Deepsea model, the watch impressively kept perfect time throughout the 7-hour underwater journey.
