Today we would like to share how to spot the real or fake for BREITLING watch!

.

Breitling is a privately owned company founded in 1884 in Grenchen, Canton of Solothurn, Switzerland.

In recent years, the market has been flooded with replica Breitling watches which look very close to the real ones but worth only a fraction of the value and are far inferior in quality.

Follow the steps below to see if your watch is authentic.

The Logo

The logo is displayed in the upper center area of the watch’s face. On a real Breitling watch, there’s no white space within the logo, while fake ones do have a white space they’re often not positioned with the same accuracy as the authentic ones. The real logo has a total of 5 splines on the wing. They don’t extend all the way to the outer wing.

The anchor from the logo should be separated from the wings. If there’s no separation between the anchor and the wings, it’s a replica.

Hands

If the second-hand features an anchor on the bottom, it should come to a point at the end. The B detail should also be very clear. You should be able to distinguish the B. You should also examine the center pin that holds the hands together. It should be the same color as the hands.

The majority of replicas use a black pin instead, making it really obvious to differentiate an original Breitling watch from a replica.

Subdials

If you see that the sub dials have the day of the week and month, you can walk away from that watch. It’s fake. Only the models that have the perpetual and annual calendar, feature the day and month as well as the chronograph. But apart from these models, Breitling watches only have the chronograph on the sub dials.

Anti-glare Coating

To ensure the crystal is authentic, you should hold the watch to a light source and check for glare. If the crystal creates a blinding glare it’s highly likely that this watch is a replica. An authentic Breitling’s crystal would minimize the amount of light it reflects thanks to its anti-glare coating. Also, the reflection from it should be slightly bluish.

Straps/Bracelets

The bracelet of a Breitling watch is of very high quality. Even the leather straps undergo the same quality control as the steel straps. Breitling bracelets always have a model number, but somehow fake watches tend to leave out this detail.

Crown & Pusher

Almost every Breitling replica gets this wrong. During the manufacturing process of a Breitling watch, the holes for the crowns and push pieces are cut with absolute precision so the fitting is precise.

Model Number

Make sure that the model number located on the case back matches the watch the seller is advertising. A quick look at a trusted web page should help you to see if the number matches the watch.

Low-quality Printing and Engraving

The engraving in the real buckle is deeper than the one in the fake one. You should be able to feel the Breitling word engraved on it, but the other side of the buckle should be smooth. Also, the letters on the face should have a 3D look, they should pop from the background. If they look flat, chances are that you’re looking at a replica.

Letters print on fake watches usually look fuzzy and the proportions aren’t correct.

Weight.

A fake Breitling should feel lighter than an original because of the materials used to produce it. The case of a Breitling watch is always manufactured with top-class metals. In order to give the watch its form, the case is subjected to high pressures and high temperatures that give its final shape.

This means that the replica of a Breitling will feel a lot lighter, as cheap materials like plastic will have been used.

Photographs

Poor quality photos should be an indicator that the seller is actually advertising a fake Breitling. Fuzziness and distant photos are used to hide damages or quality errors. It’s always better to reject those low-quality images and engage with the ones that focus on the watch’s features, showing it as it is, with no secrets.

The Movement

Being a chronograph specialist, Breitling manufactures their own mechanical chronograph movements. Even though they have manufactured a limited number of electronic timepieces with quartz movements, they equipped them with Super Quartz movement that is ten times more accurate than the regular quartz equivalent.

Replicas will always use inexpensive quartz movements to reduce manufacturing costs.

Analyzing the movement of the hands could help you with this. If the hands are not moving smoothly, but rather following a staccato ticking, the probability is that this watch is a fake Breitling.

And of course, you should always be suspicious about the price. If it seems too good to be true, we regret to tell you that it most definitely is a scam.
